The Swiss Societey for Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine Young Scientist Award is presented annually to a single PhD thesis from across Switzerland – and this year goes to Doris Zauchner.
This year, the Swiss Societey for Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine is presenting its Young Scientist Award to Doris Zauchner. The award pays tribute to outstanding scientific work in the fields of biomaterials and regenerative medicine and is given in recognition of particular originality and research impact.
Zauchner’s doctoral thesis is entitled ‘Osteogenesis-Imperfecta-on-a-Chip: An Experimental Tool to Study Matrix Defects in Brittle Bone Disease’. As part of NRP 79, she worked with the team led by Xiao-Hua Qin to develop a bone-on-a-chip model with human cells in order to study the rare bone disease osteogenesis imperfecta – completely without animal experiments.
