NRP 79 projects: New short videos provide behind-the-scenes insights

Compressing a multi-year NRP research project into a short film is no easy task. However, it's an important one to ensure transparency and provide an insight into 3R research. There are now 10 videos online.
From the analysis of historical votes on animal experimentation to the development of animal-friendly experimental methods with insect larvae, pipette training in mice or research on organoids as a humane alternative: A total of 10 short videos about NRP 79 research projects are now online. Here are the latest:
- A video about the research project by Caroline Brall and Caroline Schlaufer on arguments for and against animal testing
- A video about the fight against the multi-resistant bacteria ("superbugs") that are estimated to cause 1.3 million deaths every year
- A study on the legal status of mini-organs grown from stem cells in the lab
- The MDA method for rodents is a non-invasive, stress-free and cost-effective alternative to probes
- The research team led by Marco Osterwalder is developing heart organoids and thereby improving our understanding of heart development (see the news "Heart chambers in a test tube" in this newsletter)
- Why does 3R implementation fail in practice? And how could this be improved?
- Why does it make a difference whether I use a worm, a dog or an octopus in an animal experiment?
All videos are available online in the NRP 79 media centre.
More videos about NRP 79 research projects will follow in the coming weeks and months.
