NRP 79 projects: five new short videos shed light on current research projects

How can complex research be explained in a few minutes? The new NRP 79 short videos show how. Fifteen videos are now online.

The five latest NRP 79 short videos present exciting research approaches: they show, for instance, how the impact of air particles on humans can be investigated without animal experiments and shed light on the important role of female mice in breeding.

  1. A video about a decision cube that helps to assess animal experiments ethically on the basis of three dimensions: importance of research, likelihood of success and harm to the animals.

  2. The following video explains how animal experiments are approved in Switzerland and why clear criteria are needed in order to balance harm and benefits.

  3. Who actually cares about the welfare of female mice? This NRP 79 project addresses those animals that are not themselves used for experiments but that nevertheless play a central role.

  4. A video about the question of how we can investigate the impact of air particles on our body without experiments using thousands of laboratory animals.

  5. This video is about replacing animal testing in cancer research – using a human stem-cell-based “tumour-on-a-chip” model that replicates the cancer-immunity cycle.

All videos are available online at the NRP 79 media centre.

Further videos about the research projects will follow in the coming weeks and months.
